Dr Chloe Smith is a Consultant Paediatrician and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

Chloe graduated with Honours from Monash University in 2007 and has been practicing Paediatrics since 2009. She completed most of her paediatric training at the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) and Mercy Hospital for Women in Melbourne and has undertaken additional fellowship training in the paediatric subspecialties of Neonatology, Endocrinology and Community Child Health.

Chloe recognises the complexity of infant feeding. Seeking a deeper understanding of the science behind lactation to better serve her youngest patients, she embarked upon training in breastfeeding medicine and qualified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2015.

Chloe has always been passionate about supporting patients experiencing adversity and recognises the privilege it is to work in partnership with children and caregivers at their most vulnerable. Chloe enjoys assisting patients with antenatal lactation counselling, infant feeding, growth and development, sleep and settling, and other general paediatric medical conditions. She has a special interest in cancer during pregnancy and aims to provide information to mothers with cancer to aid decisions for safe infant feeding, often in the face of complex oncology care plans.

Chloe works with children, caregivers, General Practitioners, specialist physicians, nurses, allied health and school educators to optimise medical care and promote a nurturing environment through the life stages . She aims to bring out the strengths and unique potential of every child.

Outside of work Chloe enjoys exploring new places with her young family - from the walking trails of remote national parks to the cafes and playgrounds of urban Melbourne.
